There are 6 Sims 3 editions that are out in the market, and they all offer very different gaming experiences to their players. The Sims, a game on strategy and simulation, is about creating and living a character’s life, and it shows how your decisions could easily affect what happens to the lives of your characters. The 3rd version of the game, The Sims 3, was released June 2, 2009, and it is one of the biggest successes in the gaming history, with 1.4 million copies of the game sold in its very first week of release.

Quite a lot of people are confused about Sims 3 editions and add-ons. There is a huge difference between the two. A Sims edition could be played by itself. This means that you don’t need to install the original version for you to be able to play another edition. An add-on isn’t something that you’d be able to play without the core game. Add-ons are very popularly referred to as expansions as well. Most commonly, add-ons are additional in-game items. Sometimes though, expansions add some features like more character traits, careers to choose from, places and new situations to explore as well as many other features, including additional controls.

Sims 3 Editions and Expansions:

There are 2 editions out of a total of 6 that have add-ons installed on them. These are The Sims 3: Deluxe, and The Sims 3 Plus Pets editions. There is one edition that is yet to be released, making it a total of 7 different editions of Sims 3.

The Sims 3 – This is the original edition of the game’s 3rd version and, as said above, it has been released in 2009.

The Sims 3: Collector’s Edition – The collector’s edition was released on the same date as the original edition. The only difference is that the collector’s edition would enable you to download a sports car that you could use in the game. It also comes with a TS3-themed USB stick of 2GB memory.

The Sims 3: Holiday Collector’s Edition – After around 6 months on December 4, the holiday edition was released for the holiday season of 2009. It would also allow you to download the European sports car, but it comes with 6 in-game additional items, 3 in-game songs, as well as 3 wallpapers.

The Sims 3: Commemorative Edition – This edition came exactly 6 months after the one it followed, being released on June 4 of 2010. It would come with a poster, a sketch book, and a hardcover book of The Sims 3.

The Sims 3: Deluxe – This is the first edition of the game that has an extension installed along with the game, and this was released on September 28, 2010. The Ambitions add-on comes with the installation, but this add-on came out earlier on June 1, 2012, in America. This add-on gives out several new features, but the idea of the add-n is to let you control your Sims while they are at work, giving you more control over your character’s work life.

The Sims 3 Plus Pets – This is the first edition that came as soon as the add-on enters the market. Both the add-on and this edition came into the market on October 18 and October 21, 2011, in North America and Europe respectively. This will give you the ability to take care of pets and control them.

The Sims 3 Plus Showtime – The Showtime edition would be out in March of 2012, and one could say that there are millions of people that are just waiting for the time to buy it already. It would come in two versions, one which is the standard edition, and the other being the Katy Perry edition. There would be new careers to choose from, new items, new traits, and this would be the first version ever to allow you to transport your character into another player’s world.

All Sims 3 editions are enjoyable, and one could say that everything that would follow would be as anticipated as those that have been already released in the gaming market. The very first version of the Sims was released in 2000, and the games just get better and better every passing year, with all the add-ons getting more and more enjoyable.
